Sign-Off Authority

Who applies for Sign-Off Authority?

  • For an Arborist Technician who has 2,400 work based hours with a past and/or current employer and/or from self employment;
  • For a Climbing Arborist who has 2,700 work based hours with a past and/or current employer and/or from self employment;
  • For a Landscape Horticulturist or who has 9,720 work based hours with a past and/or current employer and/or from self employment,
  • For a Production Horticulturist who has 7,290 work based hours with a past and/or current employer and/or from self employment, and;
  • Someone who wishes to mentor an apprentice.
  • Sign-Off Authority gives you the authorization to sign off on an apprentice’s hours worked and to accept or decline an apprentice’s ‘Recommendation for Certification’. This does not designate you as a Certified Tradesperson.

Steps to apply for the Arborist Technician Sign-Off Authority

  1. You must submit the 'Application - Certificate Challenge' and an 'Employer Declaration' and/or a 'Statutory Declaration'.
    1. Download and read the Instructions.
    2. Download and complete the Application - Certification Challenge form.
    3. Download and complete an Employer Declaration of Work Experience or Statutory Declaration of Work Experience form for each employer you worked for in the arborist technician trade. The instructions will explain which form(s) you need.
  2. Provide supporting documentation of a minimum of 2,400 proven work based hours.
  3. There is no fee to apply.
  4. Send completed application forms to ITA, with all supporting documents.

Steps to apply for the Climbing Arborist Sign-Off Authority

  1. You must submit the 'Application - Certificate Challenge' and an 'Employer Declaration' and/or a 'Statutory Declaration'.
    1. Download and read the Instructions.
    2. Download and complete the Application - Certification Challenge form.
    3. Download and complete an Employer Declaration of Work Experience or Statutory Declaration of Work Experience form for each employer you worked for in the climbing arborist trade. The instructions will explain which form(s) you need.
  2. Provide supporting documentation of a minimum of 2,700 proven work based hours.
  3. There is no fee to apply.
  4. Send completed application forms to ITA, with all supporting documents.

Steps to apply for the Red Seal Landscape Sign-Off Authority

  1. You must submit the 'Application - Certificate Challenge', and an 'Employer Declaration' and/or a 'Statutory Declaration'
    1. Download and read the Instructions.
    2. Download and complete the Application - Certification Challenge form.
    3. Download and complete an Employer Declaration of Work Experience or Statutory Declaration of Work Experience form for each employer you worked for in the landscape trade. The instructions will explain which form(s) you need.
  2. Provide supporting documentation of a minimum of 9,720 proven work based hours
  3. Your CLT in Ornamental Maintenance plus one other module will count as 1,000 hours of work for Landscape Horticulturist challenge exam
  4. There is no fee to apply.
  5. Send completed application forms to ITA, with all supporting documents
Steps to apply for the Production Sign-Off Authority
  1. You must submit the 'Application - Certificate Challenge, and an 'Employer Declaration' and/or a 'Statutory Declaration' 
    1. Download and read the Instructions
    2. Download and complete the Application - Certification Challenge form. 
    3. Download and complete an Employer Declaration of Work Experience or Statutory Declaration of Work Experience form for each employer you worked for in the production trade. The instructions will explain which form(s) you need. 
  2. Provide supporting documentation of a minimum of 7,290 proven work based hours 
  3. There is no fee to apply. 
  4. Send completed application forms to ITA, with all supporting documents
